    Default Vectra VXR factory map

I promise this is my last VXR thread as I am still testing the water at the moment

Looking at a few of the 255 VXRs I was wondering if the dealer would be able to upload the 280 map onto the car?

When I first got my run around cdti it had been remapped and I took it to the dealer. They reverted the car back to the standard most up to date map for the sum of £30 quid so I wondered if the 280 map could easily be put onto a 255 meaning a super cheap (but very safe) remap

Paul, are you sure? The 255 version was released first because the ESP system wasn't yet set up to handle 280 BHP, so in theory Vauxhall never created a 280 BHP map that would work with the 255's ESP programming. If that's the case John, you'll need an aftermarket map and not just a stock Vauxhall one to get the higher power.

I'm with rebellion here, pretty sure I've read on VXRo that it cannot be done..

We're the original 255's not a different engine code to the 280's too?

    Differences between a 250 & 280 models

The block is the same - YES
The plugs are the same - YES
The turbo is the same - YES
The injectors are the same - YES
The intercooler is the same - YES
The water radiator is the same - YES
The cams are the same -YES
The fuel pump is the same - Yes
The ECU is the same - No
The map is the same - NO
The induction system is the same - NO
Inlet manifold is the same - NO

Apparently the ECU is different hence why they have both a different part no, however its still not know fully if the ECUs internally are different in any way. One thing is for sure though - if you want a VX map for a 250 or a 280 it comes direct from factory on the ECU itself !

The CAMS are actually the same, the real difference is the VVT hydro pulleys which adjust the timing apparently

The Inlet mani is slightly different to on the 280 model

There is deffinately a difference in the airbox on a 280. but all seem to map to the same once the airbox hole is drilled (gives up to 10bhp).

A dealer can't remap a car even if a newer model did have more power. Never heard anything so ridiculous.

Why not? Some manufactures allow there dealers to map cars with aftermarket maps (saab were a prime example) so why not a new oem map?

I believe the cylinder liners are different along with other minor internal differences.

If an individual dealer wants to be an agent for a remap company like Thorney or superchips that there own choice. A bog standard dealership like 9 out of 10 of them have no way of remapping a car unless they are an agent for an aftermarket tuner.
