    hi all,

    having problems with my EGR valve. been adviced to strip and clean it but not sure where its located, can anyone help ???

    i think i may be having probs with mine. what symptoms your car got? mine smoking black and loss of power

    same symptoms had a diagnostic done yesterday, although its not a constant fault comes and goes!!! 2.2 dti. not sure where the egr is situated so i can try cleaning it.

    Have you tryed disconnecting it electric plug, just to see if it runs better . If so sticky egr

    Egr on the 2.2dti is right at the front middle just under the engine cover, if its been in a while they can be a real swine to come out, be carefull around the brass pipes, I split mine accadently.

    You have to remove the pipes first (you just have to pinch the tightening clips using a plier to release them). Beware of the coolant that will flow out. Quickly lift the pipes ends above the header tank level and they'll stop leaking. Use locking pliers or anything you want to keep them high (even clothespin and a cardbox if you like ) and out of your way. They're actually long enough for that.

    Then the valve may seem hard to get out, but it's actually easy if, instead of trying to pull it out straight away like a bully (and believe me, it will be bullier than you ), you just grab it firmly with both hands and twist it both sides until it moves.

    It will then come out very easily.
