Are there any hardware differences between the 230 and 250 model? or is it just mapping?
Will the 230 remap to the same figure the 250 would remap too?
Cheers

There is hardware differences i think. I have the 230 and its mapped to about 290. i had a map made up from MPG.
If i remember correctly Ian said they both map up to 290 ish.
290 from a remap will do me nicely. Thanks for the reply.
I have got 282 but 375 ftlb of torque from my 250 auto
haha, I didn't want to question the validity of MPG's rollers, but only guessed it would be a matter of time.
I'll be making my way over to courts for the mapping. The figure doesnt bother me, just wanted to know if they are essentially the same enigines. Makes no sense to me to buy a 250, especially due to the silly road tax price.
Confirms I will be getting 1 of the 2, 230 manual models for sale near me.
They are the same, and drilling the airbox as per the 280bhp vxr helps as well. there is a thread by @porkballs showing how
what mpg you guys getting, trying to get my father in law to buy a 2.8 Turbo ;-)
my auto used to average 16mpg on my commute (5 miles stop start). But would do 35 on a run. My 3000 mile trip to Italy used to average 30mpg, that was a mixture of about 500miles town driving 500 miles mountain road driving and the rest motorways (including spells at 150mph+). That was with the car fully loaded. The manuals are much better around town
I spoke to Courtenay a few months ago and they said the only difference between the 230 and the VXR (in terms of remapping) is the lack of Sport button on the 230's. The Sport button is set to switch between pedal-in-the-carpet being 70% throttle and 100% throttle.
As you're going for a manual this next bit won't be an issue for you, but for the sake of completeness they also explained that they can't do fettling runs on the rollers with the autos as you can't lock it into one gear.
On the MPG question, I have a 230 auto estate and my main drive is a 15 mile commute (10 miles of crowded motorway and 5 miles of pootling), I get 21mpg in winter including 5 minutes deicing idling, and 24mpg in summer. As Ziggy, 35mpg on a run, fully-laden. Never had a sensible opportunity to go faster than 140mph, but you can cruise at 120mph, still get low-mid 20s in the mpg over a decent distance, and you have plenty of power in reserve.
It's good to go in with your eyes open on the fuel consumption, I only expected to do 20mpg so the fact I've averaged 24mpg in the 7k miles I've had the car is a bonus. Some say it's not a car to buy if you worry about mpg, but my view is that you should at least know what to expect with a car. To be honest, 24mpg isn't bad for the size of car regardless of engine, and there are enough sub-20mpg cars out there and a few sub-10mpg cars that would drink beyond the pocket of many who confidently claim they never worry about mpg!!!
