    Default Welding alternative

Picking up my new VW Caddy tomorow, the van does come vynal wrapped.
however the rear windscreens are glass to the average joe they will look metal as it has been wrapped, but there is a tell tale rear wiper, although the wiper has been removed there is still the protuding wiper mechananism.
I was just wondering if i got some thin steel plate to fix internally on the rear doors, is there any thing that is as good as a weld (without the welding) or using screws.
