    Default Dealer Cambelt Problem?

    The story goes,

I bought my vectra c sri cdti 2006 with 87k on the clock, from evan halshaws in doncater in dec 2012 and it has been in for its 7 year service today in evan halshaws vauxhall york, I was told when I bough the car from donny that the cambelt was due on at around 125k that is one of the reasons why I bought it, but on going to pick the car up from the york branch they are saying because it has clocked 90k it is due/over due a cambelt change? so I contacted the donny branch and they are saying 125k and the york branch are say 90k for the cambely change and nither is backing down? what am I to do??????

If it's never been done then I'd do belt and water pump soon as.

one of the reason I bought the car was because it didn't need it changing until 125k, I feel riped of a bit, but the dealer in donny is still saying 125k for changing, so don't feel like why I should pay for it?

1.9 is 100k or 10 years. But its not the belt that gives, its the water pump, and then take the belt and rockers with it.

    Here's something funny

Alfa Romeo changed thier timing belt intervals from 72,000 to 36,000 or every 3 years on the petrol engined range.

The diesels remained at 100,000k or every 7 years. (Fiat group Saab Vauxhall)

Personally I use this as a guide for all mainstream manufacturer engines except Ford.

I refused to buy mine on 92k unless they could either

    A) prove it had been done
    Or
    B) do it...

Needless to say they did that and a water pump change along with a service before I picked it up!

I wouldn't personally risk a Cam belt past 50k or five years just to be safe!

At the end of the day if you do wait until 125k and the belt does let go would the dealers at donny pay for the repairs, I'm guessing not and that the choice is upto you , depends if you are a gambling man and what mileage you choose to believe.
