Default Personalised number plate help please

I got pulled tonight for my number plate which is mis-spaced and I was given a £30 fixed penalty.

Does anyone know if this is recorded by the police? i.e. If I get pulled again will they know about it?
If the answer to this is yes, what sort of penalty will I face on the second occasion? increased fine? points? etc.

Really need to know on this one as I can't afford to get points on my license so if there is a chance of this I will be forced to sell the plate.

    Cheers

Its D4 NMA. My name is Dan and so I have it D4N M A, with M and A being my initials (so VERY mis-spaced I know). But if I have it as D4 NMA it makes no sense.

I think I'm right in saying it does stay on police records. I'm not sure for how long though.

Andy, as Ian say's... I was with Phil when he got pulled, and his was just slightly misplaced like yours.. he'd just moved the 6 and the 0 apart a bit and had a yellow screw cover ( perfectly legal) in the top of another character...

TBH, the'd first tried to push both Payney and Mrs GSi over the limit by some really bad tailgating, so i think phil was just un lucky.....They where out to nick someone...

I think any numberplate that isn't spaced 'just so' is a valid pull..

From what i'm lead to believe, first time it's a fixed penalty, a ticking off and a correct number plate (spacing etc.) to be fitted with a report from an MOT centre stating this has been correctly done.
If they catch you again (yes itISrecorded) they can take away the right for you to display the registration number + another fine (i think it can be £1000+ !).
**When you "buy" the registration number, you are only paying for the right to display it on your vehicle, you never actually OWN it !!!!**
    It isn't worth the risk.

    Thumbs up My Experience

I have a Private Plate which was on the Astra & Will be on the Signum this week (Waiting on V5 & tax from transfer).

Number = T77 ATS, Displayed as MATS - see image below.

Ordered the plate off the net as a 'Show' plate only. Managed 1500miles & 3 weeks before being pulled on M6 by a horrid traffic cop. He breathlysed me, checked tyre depths, ran full PNC & Insurance checks. Treated me like a second class citizen. I have to be careful here as:

    a) Yes I did break a law (Misreprisentation of a Numberplate).
    b) I took the gamble & my choice to put the plate on the car.
    c) He was only doing his job (albeit in a poor manner).

Bearing in mind he pulled me at 11am on a tuesday morning - me fully suited and car gleaming.... Why he felt the need to breathlyse me, apart from itching to bust someone....

Anyways - I have nicer Legal plates made up now, standard fonts etc etc. The point is, if the plate means something to you, ie the numbers etc... You dont need to space it illegally, yes it is nice to have a snazzy plate, but who are you trying to please?

    P.S - I got a £30 fine - no producer or anything.

The law on this = 3 pulls that are recorded with Police can = >£1000 fine & confiscation of your numbers.
