Right in the middle of soldering new leds to my dials.

Also in the middle of soldering a new power connector on a laptop which took me over an hour to take apart,

Guess what ..... My soldering iron has just packed up.

Not to mention I have a full led conversion coming up this weekend too for a member here.

Grrrrrrrrr.

Well off to maplins on friday (taken the day off) to buy a new way over priced temp controlled soldering station and extra tips. Can't wait for ebay delivery. Won't come in time.

Bang goes my profit margin, ah well sometimes you can't win I spose.

might be worth a look in lidl first if you got one local they had a temp controlled iron with 2 tips and 2 rolls of solder and sponge for £8 with a 3 year warranty on it

Hey, Envy, if you're going to Maplin's often, maybe I should ask you to take a few bits for me from times to times...

The nearest store from here is Dick Smith Electronics in Australia or New Zealand, and honestly, they have almost nothing.

I was really impressed by all Maplin had to offer when I came to Sutton last year to visit my brother. If you're interested in helping me, I'll list what I'm lacking and you'll quote shipment par Royal Mail... And of course, you'll add something for your effort. As Sebastian knows, it will still cost 10 times less than buying locally (when they even have anything, actually, which is so rare it isn't even worth mentionning).

Thanks for the tip mate but im going to stick with the iron I know. I have worked out the temp settings needed for different LEDS and don't really want to have to do that again with a different iron.
