    Question Tuning Advice

I was planning on doing a small few mods with the vectra, (its a 150bhp), before getting a remap, ive already done the airbox mod, put in a pipercross filter and egr blank. Next i was thinking of a decat at the turbo and then mabey a FMIC and then the remap. But ive been thinking and it would be nice to have it up to around 220bhp or there abouts, as it would be one of a kind around these parts and it should definitely be enough for me then, good big comfortable car, with plenty of go
So what else besides what ive mentioned above would i need to do before the remap to reach this figure, would just a bigger turbo added to the above be enough or would the injectors need changing or anything else?
Would the standard clutch and flywheel be able to withstand the extra power?
Also would the rest of the engine remain reliable at this figure and for everyday use would the car still be practical?

    Thanks in advance!!

To reach 220bhp (thereabouts myself, maybe a touch higher), you'll need to uprate the turbo. Standard injectors are still fine at this power level. The clutch hits its limit at about 360-370ft/lbs. I'm still running the standard intercooler. Reliability wise, seems fine. Mine hasn't broken in any serious way at all since hiking the power up and it's on 118,000 miles doing about 35k a year.

What other mods do you have done with yours? Do you know what the torque will be roughly with this bhp, are you still running standard clutch? What kind of turbo did you get and where did you get it from? I cant seem to find much about where to go about the turbo or prices

Mine has a straight through exhaust, blanked and mapped out EGR valve, and some of the pipes have been replaced with silicone ones. That's it. You'll hit the torque limit of the standard clutch quite easily at 220 or so bhp - this is what I'm running on my standard clutch. There are aftermarket uprated clutches available, one from Sachs and one from Black Diamond. One is hideously expensive (upwards of 600 quid if I remember right) and the Black Diamond one isn't really holding much more than the standard one I'm running. A specialist built the turbo for me, was a simple enough swap.

@nutron will be along shortly to fill you in with more details on that!

I think @nutron has spent too many nights looking at maps and lost the plot now....
I was afraid he wouldn't handle it

The 3ltr has a 59mm compressor wheel, there are bigger available but how much pressure will the block take?

And is your clutch holding up or starting to slip?? im just thinking that if the turbo was the only thing extra i need to bring it to around 220 would i be better getting that now before the remap rather than doing the other stuff, then the remap and then thinking its not enough and getting the turbo then and need another remap?

Nutron, tell me everything you know, what would be your advice??

I'm only allowed to give generic advice.

If you want 220bhp, you will not be achieving that on a standard turbo.

Remapping without raising boost pressure will limit you to about 150whp and 270lbft at the road before you start smoking a lot.

If you raise boost pressure on a standard turbo at the bottom end there is scope for more torque without high risk to the turbo but raising boost at the top end would risk over speeding the shaft and causing rapid thrust bearing wear or failure of the shaft. Standard shaft speed for a GT1749MV on full boost at top end of the rev range is 180,000 rpm. Asking for a small increase in pressure actually makes quite a large demand for additional air.

Fuel economy would not be affected by a sensible hybrid upgrade and could be fitted without mapping to run as standard.

Uprated fueling systems would not be needed unless you wanted to go past 200WHP (220-250hp depending on rollers).
