Default Once Upon A Time In The East!

I brought the Vectra at the end of February and I haven't done much, but would definitely like to give some mods a go!

    I don't have any from when I brought it, but here's a few I've taken -

I found these hidden under stickers -

    I also de-badged the boot -

That's it so far, but will hopefully do more!

Shiney, except for the wing ding! A remap is the first 'must have' mod for a 1.9 CDTI, closely followed by a front mount intercooler.

I had hoped on bringing the car up to you as planned! So hopefully I could look to do a remap once the car gets the OK and will be worth putting money into.

Indeed, need to get it running right first. When did you plan on coming? I don't think you agreed a date with me for the diagnosis and fixing.

I was going to ask if you were free next weekend, but I have just checked my mot and it's on the 4th of April, so I may need to get that out of the way first. But I definitely want to get it diagnosed and after driving home this morning I realised I would really like a remap for more power lol.

Any weekend is fine for the foreseeable future. Just PM me when you have chosen a date.

    Cheers mate, will do!

    ---

Quick update - Got a set of tailored mats and ordered new gear gaiter leather. Also got a Griffin RoadTrip (cool bit of kit for iphone users).

Not much been going on, due to work.

Took her for an MOT, she failed after 15 minutes in the garage due to an Inner CV Boot Gaiter, I was quoted £90 for the parts and labour. So a friend and I fixed it the same day. I brought the a flexi Gaiter from JCP for £10.30 and a friend and I used a Gaiter stretcher to put it on without having to remove the drive shaft, took her back and she passed all before 1PM!

MOT - £50, Parts - £10.30, Petrol - £10 (For friends car) and Crate of beer - £8 (Payment to said friend) = Result!

You may have read in another post of mine about it was puffing out smoke like a 60 a day smoker. I followed a guide on here and cleaned the EGR valve with no luck. I then purchased some Cataclean, which was just wishful thinking and it had even worse MPG. Also did a blast from Ipswich to Lakeside (64 miles each way) changing up and down gears in an effort to clear some crap out

After loads of bad looks from rear drivers and frustration I poured kettle water over the swirls and the car completely cut out, so I hooked it up to my friends car and we managed to get it running - and to my amazement the light was off!

It is just left with poor performance now and feeling pretty confident I went on the engine this evening to take a look around and found some interesting things!

I heard a psshing sound coming from the front of the engine and found this, it must have been like it for a long time -

I ended up stretching the old one and putting a cable tie around it until I buy a new pipe this week.

Notice all the soot in the engine! -

Also noticed this wet spot on the underside of the engine cover -

I took it for a quick drive afterwards and it's savage! It pulls so much better and harder. Also much faster! While on the duel-carriageway I noticed a light came on the dash (Car with Spanner through the middle) and went off again then remained on until I switched the car off and on. Also at the traffic lights I tried to pull away fast (and firmly) to get into lane and a massive (huge!) cloud of smoke came out the rear of the car with a feeling like something had just pushed through the engine and finally unblocked? Even the car behind changed lanes to get away from me, thinking I was on fire . I pulled over checked the engine and pipes and give it a few revs and smoke ****ed out of the exhaust but then calmed down.

I'm now feeling back to square one but if I carry on researching and trying to find the problem I'm resolve it soon enough!

The stain on the underneath of the engine cover - have a look at your injectors, you may have one that is leaking and needs resealing
