    Vehicle : 2007 1.9cdti sri 150 estate

    Trim : sri

    Engine : 1.9cdti 150

    Year : 2007

    Default sidelights

i am not bothered about led's as i dont really want them to flicker.

its the normal w5w afaik, the same as the number plate light on the estate.

my question tho, can the drivers side one be fitted without removing half the car?

looked in haynes manual and it says remove headlight as per section 7.

you turn to section 7 it says remove bumper as per section 11.

i am not taking apart half the car to fit a 50p bulb but i want my mpg display back instead of "parking light"

    thanks

The passengers side is a lot harder to get into.

They're probably following the dealer's charging matrix! 50p bulb, £75 for labour!

OIC, thankfully the passenger side one is still working, for now at least.

if it goes i may put up with the parking light warning until the bumper has to come off for something important

I never had problems to reach the sidelights bulbs.

On the left side, you may have to remove the windshield wash bottle collar (it's just inserted in the tank), and on the right side, you may be bothered by the airbox and intake hose, but you can temporarily remove the hose from the box, and also open the airbox cover if it helps putting your hands behind the headlight housing.

The sidelight and the high beam bulbs are nested in the same reflector, and protected by a common cover. To remove it, you have to unclip a tab, then slightly rotate the cover until you can set free another tab that's inserted in a slot in the housing. Then you can raise the cover out (you'll probably be able to use just two fingers, as I reckon there's not much room ! )

Actually, you'll have much more a hard time putting the cover back in place than removing it !

Once the cover is removed, the bulb can be seized between two fingers (once again, you won't be able to slip your whole hand there ! ) : twist it about 1/4 turn and pull the socket. The W5W bulb is just insterted in this socket. The wire is long enough to allow changing the bulb without any more hassle.

here is a picture of the back of a left hand side headlight housing :

The high beam and sidelights cover is on the right (inner) side on this picture (not the one that's removed - the low beam cover - but the one that's still in place). The locking tab is currently hidded by the yellow and brown wire connector on this picture. The hinged tab can be seen (or guessed) to the bottom right of the cover.

It should help to strudy this picture before groping behind the headlights...

Can have the bumper dropped in literally 2 mins (but I have done it quite a few times), probably quicker than removing the airbox pipes, lid and removing the airbox (and that annoying pipe underneath that you can never get back on ).
