Questions on changing front seats in an Elite for Sports seats

I really want a set of the front sports seats for my car. After driving Mrs Duncan's Corsa SXi this afternoon I want the sort of extra support that type of seat gives. Have done for a while!

My seats, being an Elite, are full leather, heated with full electric movement and memories so I would want to keep all that.

Now I know full leather, heated sports seats are like rocking horse poo as the sports seats in an Vectra SRi/GSi or Signum Design will have been manual as standard and not heated, but I could live with them not being heated as I'd just whip my pads and wiring out and put them on the new seats.

The main question I have, before I go off searching, is this.

If all I can find is a manual set of leather sports seats, can I remove all the manual levers etc. from them, and transfer all the electric motors and mechanics etc. over from my current seats? Would all the electric bits, control modules etc. be easily transferred over?

I haven't had a good look at the workings of my seats to see how it's all put together, but it wouldn't be a big deal to whip one out and have a look - but I thought I'd see if anyone knew before I went and did that.

If it's a no-no, then I guess I'll be looking for full leather, electric sports seats - which are gonna be like rocking horse poo to find!

why not have a word with someone like Classic Car and see if they can retrim your seats with bigger side bolsters and more support.

they would probably be able to use alot of the existing leather, just changing the side bits which would need to be wrapped around the side bolsters.

that way, you'd keep the leather memory seats (which would be a real shame to get rid of) and even get to choose the amount of support you want

it may cost just as much, or maybe even less than buying the seats and then swapping them over. and i'm sure any prospective buyer looking for an elite would want the memory seats, so may even effect the resale value.....unless you would swap them back

Yep, that's not an option. I wouldn't lose the electric memory seats.

That's true - especially as they'd probably come up as a full interior from a Vectra.

i thought it wasn't until the Germany trip that Jane was going to have watch what you were spending! don't tell her that i gave you the idea, but i suppose you were gonna have to spend some cash either way!

Still hunting sports seats myself, it's the one thing I miss, they aren't easy to find in any form !!!

Just trying to work out how to get a set of wheels from Irmscher in the boot and back to the UK without her seeing!!!

At least if I get them back I can say that it'd be far too difficult to take them back!!

Ah, cheers Chris. Didn't realise it wasn't even an option to have electric feature with sports seats.

Do you know if the motors, and related gubbins, are easily transferable to a manual seat? - and obviously all the manual bits removed from the other seat.

I'm beginning to wonder if the retrim option is going to be a) less hassle and b) probably cost the same, or even less, than sourcing seats etc.
