What is the best wax for a Star Silver coloured motor, I tend to ues either PS21S or Colinite 476S or Colinite 915, but just wondered if they are the best for Star Silver, I know it is difficult to get as good a shine on a light coloured car as to a dark one, I am pleased with the shine on mine, is there a better wax to use, any suggestions folks.

I use zymol carbon, it's supposed to be for darker colours but it gives a good shine and seems to last quite a time.

mothers reflections is great on star silver,this was recommended by l200 steve from detailing world,who detailed my signum last year.however you cant go far wrong with the collinite 476s.i used this wax for the first time a few weeks ago and its fantastic,so easy to use if a little difficult to see on silver,but gives great paint protection and shine.

It sounds like you're now starting to think more about looks Ed........the slippery slope beckons .........so that means you'll want to be looking at a wax that contains ONLY white carnaube, the other contain mostly yellow which will tend to mask rather than highlight the "flake" in the paint.

Now, waxes which contain only white canauba start at around the £480 mark ...........can you do me a favour "go explain that to Larisa please" .............is there hundreds of pounds differance in the finish.........that's is entirely up to the individual............I would say yes but then again I just happen to have some of these waxes the most expensive that I have costs.........wait for it.........£1,116

Soooo the waxes you already have are all top drawer and give you an all year round selection..........but that's only my opinion ofcourse

PS one of the best waxes I have come accross is Zymol Concourse,. I used this on my son's Civic Jordan and can't praise it enough and that's all round i.e. easy of use, finish, longevity everything.........course that costs £164 LOL

Hi Ed,

Zymol is the one company that does not give samples, they're also the only company who insist that all suppliers charge exactly the same i.e. the only dif in price will be in the P&P.

Also to become a Zymol detailer the detailer has to pay a fee of £5,000 (thousand)

I don't beleive they have reps either you could give them a call and ask though eh

Realistically Ed, most people will not spend hundreds and thousands on a wax.
On Star Silver I feel a good sealant ( ie, Poorboys EXP sealant) gives good optical clarity and then you can top that with a normal wax (like Nattys Paste Wax or Megs #16). Don't make the mistake of thinking the wax is the holy grail, it isn't. All you prep work before hand with the polishes and sealants, make or break the final finish.

Just before Christmas I has a small bit of Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax to finish off. I'd used it on my wifes Electric Blue Megane and it gives a lovely wet finish. I thought I'd use it up on the Star Silver Signum. I was really impressed, applied it with a cordless polisher and it gave a slightly deeper finish than previously seen. The wax only lasted 2-3 weeks but gave a nice deep wet finish which on Star Silver is hard to get.
