    Default Decat and the mot

    What is the law on this does a diesel ned a cat or not any mot testers on board what can give definitive answer

    I'm not an MOT tester, If your car left the factory with a cat then yes it should have one present (A complete exhaust sytem) to pass the MOT test.


    I knocked the guts out of my cat and refitted the empty unit so it looked standard when I had my DTI. The dervs only have a smoke test but the exsaust sytem must be intact with no bits missing.

    No problem. Quite a few members has had their car done here MIJ Exhaust in Walsall.

    cat/dpf removed passed MOT fine, section 7.1 (i believe applies) If car is eligable for a full emissions test then it must have a cat or something similar..
