Eek Oil leaking fast 3.2 V6 Vectra C

    Hello,

my 05 Veccy has developed an alarming oil leak. When the engine is running it drips out at +2 drips /sec.
It's coming from the front near where the engine and gearbox join, just on the engine side. It's directly in line with the nearside front engine mount and about 2 inches above it.

I can see it dripping, but can't see exactly where it is sourced. It doesn't seem to be the sensor that is in the block there.
Any ideas what to do next or what it is most likely to be ?

    Any pointers much appreciated.
I expect, "take it to the scrappy" may be the best answer.

If it looks like its coming from the sensor it might just be a seal.

Seems to be from above the sensor, nearer the gearbox end. I'll have to take it apart and have a better look. There are 2 metal pipes running in front of the leak. I suppose it could be the back of one of those.

Might be the oil heat exchanger or the seals on the pipes feeding into or out of it. Paul

    Hi Paul,
thanks for reply. Is that oil heat exchanger on the upper end of those 2 metal pipes ? The lower joints are clean n dry.

    Default

It lives in the middle of the V, its a fairly big job to change and its a common failure on the 3.2's im afraid. It fails due to corrosion.

Its underneath it, i remember when it was in the dealers getting done i was shocked at how much that was stripped down to access/remove it.

Nothing is ever easy. Of course my Haynes manual doesn't cover the engine I have. Grrr .
    Thanks again for the info.
