Default Do Y30DT injectors need to be programmed to the car

Does anyine know for sure if replacement injectors for a Y30DT have to be programmed to the car.

I have gone throught the TIS 2000 injector replacement procedure and for the Y30DT there is no mention of having to use Tech2 at the end. (However for the 1.9 it is specifically quoted that Tech 2 is needed).

I have replaced 2 injectors due to a misfire but when I fired it up there was a huge amount white/bluish smoke and it ran a bit lumpy. I have left if running for 20 plus mins but there was no improvement, and there is no way I would dare take it for a drive due to the amount of smoke.

I did note that when I took the injectors out a little engine oil will have run down in to the cylinder, as the injector sits in a sleeve which is a bit bigger than the injector and so collect engine oil.

No they don't need cocoding have you cleared your missfire codes?

if they engine detects a missfire it will shut down injector

    All code were cleared.

I've taken the injectors to be tested and the two replacement, from ebay off a 89K mileage car, are faulty. One is constantly leaking fuel hence the resultant smoke and knocking and the second is partially blocked.

Still waiting results for the original 1,3 & 5 injectors and if they can be ultra-sonically cleaned, but the good news is the ebay seller has sent out two replacement.

Without hijacking this thread I wonder if this is the same for the Z30DT injectors?

Is there any requirement for tech2 reprogramming or is it just a simple clearing of codes with a dreaded op-com?

I had all 6 injectors replaced with complety new ones and had them coded in to the ECU, but it was'nt the big different if any I could feel. And it is'nt every mechanic, who dos it. You cant do the trick with Opcom - only TECH 2 can do the job.

    Thanks Sir Pingu.

    For the benefit of others...

I put 4 used and tested injectors into my 57 Z30DT yesterday, which are the EURO4 type, and I have not had to have them encoded to the ECU. No error lights, and no smoke as of yet. Im going to give the car a hammer today, and a MOT as its been off the road for a few months but otherwise I think I may have missed the need for a recode. I understand that after so many miles the Small Fuelling software will pull the new injectors into line with the others anyhow.

Maybe injector coding is not required but just recommended for bringing the small fuelling adjustments forward??? This was certainly what vauxhall said, but then again they would say that to extract another £95 from me.

Yeah youre right about the SQL ( Small Quantity Learning ) has to be programmed into the ECU, when replacing the injectors - they did that the same time on mine.

well it looks like I got away without any programming at all after swapping out 4 injectors.

Not only does the car run, pretty damn good too, but it also doesn't have any smoke and it flew through the MOT yesterday with flying colours on emissions.

Threshold of 1.5 max and my Z30DT just came in at ......... [drum roll]........ 0.12!!!

I don't mean to celebrate too early as I have not done any long journeys yet, or towing and I now have a dreaded error again.... Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Circuit High - http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...48#post2272248

The injector signiture code will need to be programmed in to the ecu, as this calibrates the injector and pairs up the injector to the ecu. This will adjust the crictical quantity and injection pattern lost in the manufacture of the injector lost in the electrical resistance of the injector soleniod. Basical it fine tunes everything....
