Default low power and rubbish mpg on vec cdti 120 aaaagh!!!!!

My vecy is now about 29 mpg round town. Used to be 34mpg minimum even with hard run. Low power. Turbo seems kick in 2500 ish. Shouldnt it be lot lower.dont here it dump /wind up.Mpg is garbage across range. Done usual. Cleaned egr . Boost sensor. Changd vacuum pipes at front. New glow plugs. Are there any other vac pipes to replace or could the egr if knacked cause this. Brakes etc not sticky so nothing to hold car back n tyres at correct pressure.lack of power from somewhere.used to pull well and mpg used be good too. Pleeeease help. Pic be good if any.thanks

did it used to have more power before? before the mpg drop?

My 120 isn't exactly a powerhouse, but in the turbo range it moves, but as with the 120, the turbo just throws power at you when it kicks in. Has it had an oil change recently?

Carling and nucleo. Thanks for your replies. I will try the boost valve. Even at low revs with very light foot the mpg on instant display is ridiculous low. Way down at low teens with ****** all power even before turbo kicks. Just generally very sluggish through full range with crap mpg. Im trying all the obvious and cheaper options before i go further.had the air box apart and is pulling plenty air through when put hand over inlet.its def got something that has failed or changed as it used be a cracker for fuel economy and pull well. Something both related to fuel and power appears go d li med to same part /parts.

Before forking out on anything, I would unplug the EGR and see what it feels like. If the EGR sticks open you'll have all sorts of problems.
If this doesn't help, blank the EGR entirely (not a Fiat gasket with a hole in, entirely blank it with a home-made plate - you'll find plenty of people who have done this on this forum). This will completely eliminate any problems the EGR could be causing - ignore the spanner light for now.
I appreciate you've already cleaned it, but if the EGR is sticking even a bit, the exhaust gas will be recirculating constantly and would cause poor performance and MPG.

As above, unplug EGR and test

Also... oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter changed (basic service). Clean the boost sensor and EGR, and check vac pipes for splitting.
Made the world of difference on my Vectra 120

Sorry, just to confirm, I meant unplug the EGR and drive around for a bit, not just see what the EGR feels like...! Will take you 1 minute to try, and £0.

And as Tony said, a basic service is a good plan as a next step. I replaced my fuel filter, which was unusually dirty last service (not sure why) and my consumption went from 42 to 48mpg. Also noticed that the design of the fuel filter had changed. The old one was a plain cylindrical paper filter, whereas the new one was corrugated, so much more surface area.

Guys thanks so far. Going to have a tinker tommorow and will get back with feedback. These issues appear so popular.just a pity our vauxhall parents couldnt have sorted these issues out years back and we could all be enjoying the forum instead getting hacked of with egr etc.appreciate your comments so far

    Thanks

Yes, but to be fair, not just Vauxhall. EGRs, Swirl flaps, DPFs, DMFs, numerous additional sensors - mostly trying to either reduce emissions or improve driving experience are on most modern vehicles and cause problems on most too. Even so, the 1.9cdti is a bit of a dog on reliability - performs well when its working!
