    Default Z30DT worth tuning?!

    Hello guys,

I'm looking at possibly tuning my z30dt.

Are there any recommendations?! I've read about not re-mapping them but how true is that?!

Any advice on tuning or a tuner would be fab.

    Cheers,
    Glenn.

A lot of people dont recommend major tuning on the 3Ltr as the diesel pump is a weak spot on them. If you do tune it then get saving for a pump!!!!!

I have spent a lot of time searching over this one. and have only ever actually found 1 bad report, about a dodgy remap. lots of posts from people saying it knackers the pumps but no evidence apart from the one that I mentioned.
I say go for it! if it works then I will do it!

Go for a respected tuner, not some dodgy box or remap.

Go for remap on the ECU, rather than tuning
The factory setting is for emissions
There is a remap available for performance (costs about £300) and is perfectly acceptable for this engine, but you do compromise emissions (it's borderline for MoT purposes)

Due to claims on the fuel pump, the remap for the Y30DT was withdrawn

Well, I was thinking about an economy remap tbh.
Something to bring it up a notch but not too much anyway!
Anyone actually mapped a z30dt without having problems?!

I would suggest contacting a reputable remap agent
There are plenty listed, so this suggests there are no issues for those who have already had this performed (not forum visitor / members)
The main issue is the lack of owners of the Y30DT and Z30DT engines, so many such agents may never have seen this engine...
Equally, the ones I looked at either don't have the Y30DT or show as unavailable

Have a chat with MPG in Middlewich, they did my Y30DT, if the pump is a weak spot then i am on borrowed time at it is nearly100k since the remap, the remap was done at 60K, SCV where replaced at 105K, car now has 155K on it and is still bringing a smile to my face, a piece of advice treat the fuel system to a bottle of Forte or similar every three months, seems to keep the smoke down, also fill the fuel bowl up with it when changing the fuel filter in between services. Other than that enjoy the remap.

I follow exactly the same method with fuel additive fill the bowl up and keep it regular I.e every quarter (mileage dependant)

listen to phil0464 he has wise words
