Default Halogen Versus HIDS 4300K or 6000K

I have just changed the bulbs on my HIDS to some metal rimmed 4300K ones, I originally had plastic rimmed 6000K ones in but thought they were a bit too blue for my liking so will see what I think of the 4300K (they were only £9.99 for the pair from Ebay).

I have a set of phoots to show the difference in light colour.

Halogen, as you can see very yellowyhalogen.jpg
    6000K has a blue tinge 6000K.jpg
    4300K nice and white 4300K.jpg

thought these might help others decide on the colour they want. I have blue glassed sidelight bulbs, but they arent as white as I would like them to be.

The main beams now look almost yellow, but as there is enough light on dipped, I dont know how much I will use them?

It might be the angle of the photo as they did not look that blue on the road. I havent been out to test the 4300K's yet. But like the 6000K they will be so much better then the Halogen bulbs.

I was using the 4300k but thought they had a very slight yellow tint and tried the 6000k and thought they were too blue. Settled on 5000k, pure white with plenty of light and white Mtec side light bulbs to match. Also used the Night Breaker Cool Blue Hyper 5000k and although they were white but the light output wasn't very good so just went for the Night Breaker Gold Edition which are more yellow compared to the HID's but give out a great light.

There is only 2 combinations I would use:

    1. 4300K Hid with Mtec side lights and Night Breaker Gold High Beam (output is a good match colour wise)
    2. 5000K Hid with Mtec side lights and Night Breaker Gold High Beam (use this at the minute, high beam more yellow compared to HID's but bearable)

If you want blue/white light colour match then 6000k Hid, Mtec side lights and Night Breaker Cool Blue Hyper 5000k but the light output isn't very good but if you want looks over light output then that's what I would go for but just remember the Cool Blue Hyper are not street legal but I didn't really worry as they were only being used in the high beam plus the Mtec side light's don't give a good light output but look good but sure they are only sidelights and are very visible at night.

It might take a bit off swapping around to find out what best suits you're on personal taste but above is just a few pointers and might save you spending money on blubs you ain't gonna use. Also when you do decide on what bulbs you want remember to get a spare set in case one blows as these bulbs can't normally be bought locally and if they can they usually come with a bigger price tag
