Default PS RS vents on to prefacelift bonnet

Just bought some RS bonnet vents from Nige, wondering if someone could PS them on to my car...

Are they actual vents or just for cosmetic purposes?

I know it does, that's what inspired me, but mine's obviously a prefacelift so want to see how it could look

Incidentally I've tried to look for Spoons' thread but can't find any trace of him now.

I'm seriously considering adding some to help cooling the underbonnet (remember diesels models have an engine undertray to reduce noise (it's also said to help starting by cold weather, which of course is not a concern where I'm living) by both helping hot air to exit (when parked), and improve air flow through the radiators and intercooler when driving (a closed underbonnet creates backpressure that opposes to the air flowing through the radiators).

But I won't cut the reinforcements as shown on this example. I'll use the trapezoidal areas between them.

The only concern with working vents is rain flowing on electrical parts when the car is stopped. I'll have to imagine some kind of deflector plates to collect the water and divert it where there are no delicate equipment...
