Hi,
Can the vacuum pump fail on the 150 cdti engine and if it was not working properly would it restrict turbo boost?
take the small pipes off and check for oil normally the seals normally go and yes it would affect turbo
but so will the pipes if there leaking something that's common too
Cheers John,
Can I tell if I take the pump off by looking at it? there does seem to be pressure through the pipes and I cant see any oil, is the pump gasketed?
cheers
if theres no oil in the lines then you should be fine more likely the vac line has a leak somwhere
have you been able to read the boost pressure? theres alot of phone apps now that will do it see what its producing
yes I have read the boost pressure as follows....
1500 rpm it is at 2.3 psi
2000 rpm it is at 4.7 psi
it needs to be checked whilst under various loads you need to see if its boosting up to its max ect then you will know if its faulty
....any ideas where I can get the standard boost values from so I can check them against mine?
cheers m8.
under load your turbo will boost more the greater the load the more it will boost
whats actually happening whilst u drive to make you think theres an issue?
I start it and drive away, there is a very very short noticeable boost from first and second gear, I change into third gear and the boost is still there but not as strong, change into the higher gears and it is boosting but very weakly....just enough to be noticeable but not like it used to.
I have totally cleaned all the induction side of things, sensors, boost pipes, manifold, turbo etc etc and the performance has improved so I now do have boost in the higher gears but absolutely not like it used to be.
I had the DPF removed 15,000 miles ago and it had a new type inlet manifold fitted at 90k (now 136k).I have blanked the egr, throttle body is all clean and working.Boost sensor (on inlet manifold is spick and span)
It feels like it wants to go and if you lean the throttle off it picks up quicker but other than that the only time it feels 100% is when it is cold,as soon as engine temp gets up it starts to lag again?
question.......
if the solenoid side (pin side) of the EGR valve was knackered would this restrict the turbo, I have unplugged the EGR and it still drives the same and there are also no codes thrown up.
I have driven the car for 40 miles today and it seems the same, when setting off from junctions etc it pulls like a train then tails off as you go up the box, I plugged the OBD in when I got home and no codes are showing/logged....?????
