heavy steering

My steering is driving me mad now.. it intermittently becomes incredibly heavy and seems to interfere with the return to straight speed of the wheel. Once it starts it will last for a few days, and seems to occur once the wheel is 90 degrees from straight and is becoming a pain in the ass when trying to turn. Initially I thought it would be the top mounts needing some greasing, but that doesn't seem to have solved it at all.. any other ideas that I should try..?

wishbone, cv joints? I've got the opposite just now, front end feels too light, replaced shocks, springs, mounts, drop links, os wishbone still no better. Things can be a pain in the hoop to find

I've had new struts springs and drop links, so its nothing there..

Check the power steering fluid level. My first Vectra did EXACTLY that. Fluid was very low. Topped up and was fine thereafter

As I understand it, that's a bit of a ****** to check isn't it..? I have a signum 2.2 direct..

Not sure on the Signum. Mine was a 52 reg Vectra C 2.2 DTi. It was behind the driver's side front wheel arch liner
