    Default Toyo Proxes 19"

OK, I've decided to give these Toyo Proxes a go when my Continentals expire... which will be soon at this rate..

I've got 235/35/ZR19 at the moment.....

    Can I go for Toyo Proxes T1-R 245/35/R19 ???

And what would be the consequenses for having a wider tyre... other than increased road noise...

    Cheers..

Well in that case, you would put your speedo out for starters.

No, it will be different. They are both 35% wall height of the width of the tyre, so on the 245 your wall height will be more so the overall diameter of the 245 will be more. Without hacking the figures into a tyre calculator I don't know the % difference. There was a link to one the other day, I'll see if I can find it.

As for difference in feel/handling. They will feel more planted on corners, but you'll get a bit of an increase in tramlining and probaly, as you said, road noise.

Also, I have a feeling 245/35/19 isn't a recommended size for Vx. I think it would need to be 245/30/19. Somebody will correct me if that's not the case.

Edit: Found the link for the tyre size calculator

Here's the figures for the two profiles....

The 245/35s do have a larger sidewall and larger overall diameter - but by hardly anything. I was expecting it to be more for some reason. And the speedo difference isn't much to worry about either.

I'd still check that the sizes are Vx recommended though - just to avoid any nasties.

Got to be done Steve, think you'll be impressed. Sticks to the road like glue, hope they last though

With regards to knocking the speedo out, mine has changed a bit going from 215/50s to 245/45. Checking with sat nav its reading about 2-3mph under what it was before. So 80mph on the speedo before was 77mph on the sat nav. Now its about 75mph. But at least I'll be able to go "faster" and not get caught for speeding

Bl00dy heck, just looked at the price of these on blackcircles, for your size, 235, your looking at £163.50 for T1-R's and £182.65 for 245. Thats EACH!! (although you'll get 5% off if you use code: bc121 or 1E419645 or RRAF or dirtbox - one of them will work!)
Cost me £187 for 2 last week!

I'll probably just stick with the 235/35/19 as they are standard spec... and about £20 cheaper than the 245/35/19

Will just wait now till summer time and I will get them changed over...

I can get T1-Rs much cheaper than that, £118 including Vat fitted for 235/45 17R. There is no way it will cost you an extra £60 for the 19".

The Toyo 888 only go upto 18" but the 295/30 ZR18 98Y only cost £200 and they cost £180 in a 235/45 ZR17 93W 2G. So your being way over charged!
