    Default Rear Brake Rattle

A few weeks ago i had the rear discs & pads done on my 2005 Vec, the mechanic put the pads in back to front so at the time I was getting a rattle so I changed them round a hey presto rattle gone.

Thing is now i have the rattle back on 1 side so i took the inside pad out today and stretched the spring out a bit to make sure its holding the pad nice and tight.

It was fine for about an hour(on my 2 hour commute home) and then started again but now it seems to make the rattle noise on each rotation of the wheel as well as over bumps.

Has anyone experienced the noise on rotation before and also does anyone have a solution other than trying a new set of pads.

    Thanks

I had an identical problem on my Vectra. Had to change the pads. Get them directly from VX though

I had a rattle on one side, a new caliper spring solved it. Like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-V...item3ccedc5f31 but I got it from the dealers.

I had to make up small shims, out of a small piece of flattened copper pipe to stop the rattle, works a treat.

yeah a lot of manufacturers used to use shims on the pads, if you forgot to put them in you knew about it

I'd got a garage to do my pads & they said one of the springs was so corroded it disintegrated when they tried to take it off. The replacement was a very poor fit hence the rattle.
