Post face lift stereo into pre face lift vectra

Hi All,

Does anyone know if the newer CD players in the facelift vectra will fit and work in a '03 pre facelift model. Mines gone duff and I thought I'd consider the option of getting a second hand one off eBay. Then saw there was one of the newer ones with mp3 facility. Wonder I it'll be a straight swap and still keep the display screen functionality too. Anyone had a try, done it or know if this is a viable option?

Yes it will, same fitment

best bet is to buy head unit and screen together as a pair, that way you can swap both over with no hastle, i am certain that if it's just a head unit it has to be divorced from old car, and paired to new car/screen if it's a full CanBus one anyway, if it's from a half CanBus make sure it has the code with it

i brought a cdc40 and screen and it went straight in as a pair no messing...

I thought a facelift stereo couldn't be put into a preface unless you do a lot of modifications.

No, no modifications needed... Plug and play. Unless its half canbus preface then im not sure. But i know 05 plate preface is plug and play.

He's got a 03/53 preface so sure thats halfcan cos my 04/54 is halfcan i know mine has got 3 plugs at the back of the stereo and the stereo that was in my 56 plate only had 2 plugs

Yes that's right fells, because the electrical systems are the same on your motor, as on a facelift, but you have a rare model
Most pre-face cars are half can electronics.

so will my 03/53 2.2 petrol SRi be same canbus as face lift models then? Or, are all early models half can and post facelift full can or, is it model rather than age specific (Sri are same canbus and elites are same canbus etc irrespective of age)?
in short can I take out my cd2005 stereo and whack in a CD30 say with no hassles? What happened to good old ISO standard?
