Default ABS Light On all the time

    Morning Guys

I am after some guidance and can’t seem to find what I am looking for, but that’s probably just because I don’t use the sight very often

My Vectra 2004 V6 CDTI has developed a couple of faults recently and I am waiting for my fault code reader to arrive in the post.

The first is that the ABS light is now permanently on, I believe this is likely to be the sensor and was wondering how difficult it is to change and also what’s involved.

The second thing is that I need to check the EGR valve and probably clean it but I have no idea where it is on the V6 can anyone shed some light on this?

And finally my traction control light has also come on recently is this likely to be linked to the ABS light?

Sorry for all the questions on one go but I was hoping to get some advice before I start digging round on the car tomorrow

    Cheers

    Jim

hi, i had the abs/traction lights, it was the near sub hub, the plastic clip that the two plugs for the abs and brake wear sit in had come off its housing and was ripped out the hub and was un fixable, only fix was new hub, its a complete unit, if this is the case when you get code read i would beware of cheap parts off ebay/etc as i went for one and lights stayed, went for genuine part and was fine, bit more costly but loads better quality. hope this helps. not sure of egr on your engine.

Got my code reader and it hasnt picked up on the flipping ABS fault so looks like im going to have to do some more digging on this little problem

got to change the inner CV boot on the Near side so ill be having to get under the car anyway at somepoint this weekend.

Does anyone know how much gear box oil in the 3.0 V6 CDTI and where the fill and level plugs are on the gear box?

    Cheers for the help guys

RE. the ABS light..I recently had this on my 2T. I removed the wheel to give access and seperated the plug for the ABS loom, sprayed electric contact cleaner which foamed up and then plugged it back together. Whilst I was there I also cleaned the brake sensor loom connection.

Finally I used small cable ties to secure the looms back to the car. Job done.

The ABS and Traction Control light on at the same time is most likely a failed CIM unit

Why do you want / need to the check the EGR Valve?
You can find this at the back of the engine bay
You can see the top and touch the of it, but it will take about two hours to actually get to it to remove it on this engine (Y30DT)
It is not possible to clean the EGR Valve on this engine, it is a new unit only sadly
If it is faulty then the engine will go EML warning light and Safe Mode, and then straight into Emissions Warning mode (and stay there for 48 hours)
