on a run to warrington last monday, my average consumption was 31.4, with a average driving speed on motorway 70/80mph and roads 30/40mph bear in mind mine is a 1.8 16v non vvt, so can anyone beat this with a petrol only, diesel could well easily beat this, but its only petrol drivers i`m asking

Your joking? 31.4mpg? I saw an average of 50.7mpg on the BC on a run to my parents before Christmas. 44mpg, 4 adults, on a run to Newcastle last year. 1.8 non vvt.
VXR drivers could get 31.4 on a motorway run at 70mph fella.

My average is both: A roads and motorway. About 16 mls motorway and 22 mls A roads, each way for me to work everyday i have 2.0T, i average 33mpg. My instant consumption siting at 75ish on motorway with c on says about 43mpg i aint exactly gentle on the gogo pedal, i can average about 380-400 mls a tank. Which i think is great for a turbo. If i be sensible and drive normal how you are meant to i can average 40+ mpg when i say average that includes town driving,

I get about 48 a gallon and that's doing 80-90 on a motorway for 50 miles of a 96 mile journey. Same engine town driving is 39.6 at sat at 80 gives 44.3 time for a service I think you may need 31 a gallon I get that out a my work van fully laden

will see if I can beat it sticking to 30/40 urban roads and 70 on the m25/40 tomorrow morning on my 50 mile trip to work.

I have a dodgy thermostat too so could be fun to see what I get.
