Are there any gas experts here? (butane/propane)

To cut a long story short, im looking to take the littlun camping when the weather picks up and going down the route of getting whats needed. Im in the motion of dealing with the cooking side of things and popped into a local costco to see what they had on offer. Now its a bit bigger than you would normally use for a portable cooker but the quality is excellent for £90, now the only problem is that i have a 15k butane tank at home but this states it uses propane. What are the differences and could butane be used or will it destroy anything? Any help much appreciated.

Make sure you cook outside of tent not inside even if its raining.

Is this true for both butane and propane? Is this because this type of grill will crate more heat than a normal camping type?

Propane burns at a higher tempreture than butane.............. You could just buy a different regulator and use the butane instead.

Thats what im wondering, is if it will be ok to butane on this machine, will it damage the burners using a different gas than suggested?

And propane operates at much lower temperature basically it don't freeze up as easy as butane dos

I am not to sure on that sorry. You might be able to exchange your 15kg butane for a 13kg propane bottle. You would have to pay for the cost of an exchange even if there is still gas left in your bottle.

Doing a bit of reasearch it turns out using butane on a propane cooker could damage the jets/burners, not sure if its worth the risk.

It will work but you will end up burning it out. Stick with what is recommended would be my advice
