    Question Rolling Road Blues...

Went to a roller today, I actually found one in Watford (that's where I am). I've driven a hundred miles to use a rolling road before now!!!

Anyway, I spent an hour and a half and did about ten runs and only got charged £79.90.

Not sure of the acuracy though, as it said the most I managed was 167.4bhp at the road wheel. What's more, it reconed I was only getting 16% transmission losses.

At the same time though it still said I was making 292.3lbft at the road wheel. It was running in fourth obviously (except when he had a brain fart and ran it in third in-advertently I knew there was something wrong when it said 400+lbft at the road wheel )

The graphs look the right shape and the power and torque hit max at the right spots. Oh, one more thing, I only managed 167.4bhp (estimated 200.2bhp at the fly) with a Tunit tuning box in on level 9!! The maximum level the box can manage...

With just the remap, the most they got was 149.7bhp at the road, estimated 180.2bhp at the fly

I have modified the air box but I tried loads of different mods while I was there, from multiple filters to one, on a straight tube out from the down pipe for minimum turbulance and restriction. Nothing made and noticable difference.

So next week I'm going to de-modify the air box and go again on Saturday, does anyone else want to come and act as a bench mark? I find it strange that three other roalling roads would give progressivly higher readings then it plumits like this!?

I got 155bhp at the road wheel with just the map shortly after it was done (WRX at Silverstone). They estimated 205bhp at the fly with my box in, Courtenay's estimated 212bhp with the box and at PVS in the mobile car killer I got a reading of 213bhp (again estimated at the fly).

How about you it? Anyone available Saturday to come alone for a second opinion?

The points you make about it being different than the last RR you were on is exactly why the results aren`t worth the paper they are written on. Every one is different so who knows what power they are pushing ?? The only use for an RR is to get a benchmark and improve on it using the same RR on the same day . It`s all a bit pointless really . The figures you have are hardly dissapointing though are they ?

I was hoping for more, so I'm dissapointed. That's why I'd like to have someone else have a go and see if it's just my car are a general treand.

Watfords a bit to far for me mate... I ran mine at Regal and promised myself I would only ever run it again once something big had been bolted to the engine...

    Good luck though...

180 from a remap sounds about right to me. A remap is not all about the power it's how it drives.

A tuning box tuned up to the max will only overfuel your car dude and cause you to loose power. Did you try it with the box on lower settings?

I did try turning the box down but it didn't make a big difference to the power, it did drop the torque noticably though.

I Did concider the heating and I used the blowers with the heat on max to cool it down.

The filters didn't get hot but I would imagine the inter cooler would have.

I forgot to spray the intercooler... I must do that next week end to see how much difference it makes.
