    Default noise fron nsf wheel

    hey guys

did my dmf a couple of weeks ago following the how 2 guide. i made a couple of **** ups putting her back together though :-(. 1st when i renewed the crank oil seal i didnt use any sealer on the bottom bit where it joins the sump 2nd i think i over torqed the hub nut resulting in a noise when i turn right and the weight is transferred to that corner. i got a different bearing but its still making the noise so is it possible i've damaged the shaft aswell ?? honestly i am well and truely p#ssed off with myself but these thing happen

I'd have suggested the bearing to be at fault, I had exactly the same issues when mine was worn. NSF was grinding when turning right and pressure was put on it.

Doubt you've damaged the shaft to be honest, would have expected a knackered shaft to produce a constant noise, rather than just on turns.

Check you have not just squeezed the dust cover for the brake disk against the disk, its quite a common thing to happen.

I'm getting this exact thing as well, it's done it since about 15 minutes after I bought the car (grrrr), was hoping it was just some debris stuck in the pad since the car had been sitting around for a while, but it's not going away. I'm planning to have the NSF wheel off and have a good look around when I get a chance (hopefully Sunday). Any tips on what I should be looking for?

If it's a bearing, is this a DIYable job for someone moderately handy, or is it going to need a trip to the Garage?

I have recently replaced wheel bearing and drive shaft on the Ns of the car, bearing was droning and inner cv was clunking when on rough roads, so driveshafts can be to blame but cancel it out by holding it and pulling towards the wheel and back towards the gearbox, if it makes a noise it would be similar to your noise

As Das said before you do anything check the dust cover. I had same problem and that sorted it.
