hids fitted, straight forward, messed the holes up a bit so will need to silicone them to seal apart from that, what a difference 35 w 5000k. how is the bulb supposed to fit through cap if you don't make a big hole ?

You're supposed to poke the plugs back through the cap (the ones that connect up to the ballast), not the bulb. If one of the plugs is too big for the hole, as I found it was, then I uncliped the plug, pushed the wires through the hole and then reattached the plug afterwards, first making a note of which way around the terminals fitted into the plug.

just about to reply, usual with me, got the bulbs at 4 pm and had them fitted for 4:30, rushed as usual without properly thinking about it. was just about to post about feeding plugs through, realised my mistake, thanks for the info anyway, might order new caps or you think I will get away with using clear silicone.

IIRC, you can't buy the caps as a separate item. Scrap yard or possibly an on line 2nd hand parts supplier.

Providing the caps are sealed where the gromet and wires poke through it, then they should be fine.

Weird enough I haven't sealed the slits I cut for the wires and at first i got some condensation but I dried them out completely, removed all the bulbs, left it all open and blew a heater through them and it hasn't come back since even on rainy days. So i wouldn't worry too much about leaving it unsealed til the new caps come.

That said can you post the l;inks to the ebay items as I'd like to get some new caps for when I resite my ballasts to inside the units. Cheers

Are your ballasts suitable to be fitted inside the units?

Most of them require adequate ventilation else they overheat and break down.

If it is the hard plastic caps for the facelift you are talking about, you can indeed buy them separately. I bought a pair from the dealer about 8 weeks ago. If you need the part number, I could possibly dig it out for you.
