    Engine : 1.8

    Year : 2002

    Default Fault code: P0170

Hello Chaps & Girls (if there are some here)

So every now and then my little engine management light comes on to say hello, usually after a long hard rag on the motorway, I plug in my gadget and get the P0170 fuel trim bank error - after some research on various sites the Google monster has taken me to I've whittled it down to Lambda/o2 sensor and MAF issues, I have seen on here several other posts relating to them both, but! when I go in and have a butchers to see what to do on my actual motor I become stumped!

the car is a Vauxhall Vectra C 2002-2005 1.8LS, I need quick cheap fixes please, and if anyone has pictures and a proper "idiots guide" to fixing these by my lonesome then please please please give me a nudge

any and all help is welcome, I can do most stuff with cars but this really is annoying me.

99% your MAF is goosed.. pick up a replacement genuine Siemens VDO, i bought a replacement from vauxhall parts world for about 73

clean out your Throttle body while you at it, it always worth doing..

I would also check your flexi pipe for a split as a leak can also throw up a random error. I think I will still agree with the other guys that the has MAF gone. Only buy genuine tho as the cheap ebay ones can be useless. Get it sorted asap becuase a faulty MAF can cause overfuelling which in turn can burn the O2 sensor out on the front manifold. Thinking about it a bit more it would be worth checking the wire to the O2 sensor and make sure it is not catching on anything or is damaged in anyway along with checking the sensor as well.

Am I right in saying there is a sensor after the flexi pipe on the exhaust, I am sure there is so worth checking that one as well for damage while you are checking the flexi pipe
