    Anybody got an idea of price to replace the Head Gasket?

    No, the problem is usually the egr cooler on the 1.9cdti but often gets misdiagnosed as a head gasket.

    So ...

    Not the head gasket (possibly) but the EGR cooler.

    What about the cost of either of these jobs?

    not sure on cost of new egr cooler but their expensive and when my mates cracked he welded it up.

    £ 100 for an egr cooler plus fitting but it is a simple job.

    Cooler ruptures, over pressurising the coolant with exhaust gasses and on shut down water passes into the exhaust causing stream on shut down some times but start up more often.

    Slightly off topic but if the EGR is blanked and mapped out, can the cooler be bypassed as a bit of a preventative measure?
