Fitted a new belt earlier as old one was cracked and noisey but what a nightmare as could get vertually zero movement on tensioner and it's making new belt tight. Do these tensioners seize or just not move far. Cheers

Sounds like the piston has seized up on it mate. I had the exact same problem with my old 2.2dti when I had it. It's probably the reason it was noisy as the tensioner doesn't keep tension on the belt. They are about 50 quid iirc
Been there, done that
Sounds like I'm off to Vauxhall then lol. Cheers guys
The piston on the tensioner needs priming too before the belt is installed. There should be instructions on how to do this with the new tensioner
If you don't do this the new one won't work properly. The genuine one I bought from a dealer didn't come with any instructions but the Haynes manual covers it.
Someone has posted about how to do this job including priming. Might have been me or John.
