Default Should i replace water pump during cam belt change ?

Hi all, im going to replace my timing belt and pulleys and was wondering if it is worth my while replacing the water pump at the same time. its a vec 150 cdti with 85k on it and sounds ok when running so i was going to leave it but i thought i would ask what others think and if the pumps are common ish fault or not?

Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks

    Absolutly yes.

Its the pumps and pulleys that fail - not the belts.

Genuine only for the pump and belt kit (includes tensioner, pulley and bolts)..

100% YES ! Trying to cut the cost on such a low priced part while you are replacing the rest of the kit would be absolutely mindless. The waterpump does so much work for what it is, then it is almost certainly due for a change when the other parts are done.

Remembering that if you don't, a pump failure and seizing up will cause an almost instantaneous belt failure when it happens.

Been there in days of old, and got that Tee Shirt already fella, you will NEVER feel sicker than if that happens to you after you were advised to change it and decided not to

Without a shadow of doubt. Mine seized at 89k, no warning. I was lucky the belt didn't break.

Get it changed sooner, rather than too later!
