    Default Tool Chest

So - I need a new tool chest. My 18yr old halfords pro one has done me proud, but now its beyond repair.

So - looking at options. I dont want to spend > £1k on SnapOn etc, as much as I would love too.

    I have found this one:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-Ste...item56444e3b21

Looks VERY reasonable to me for £200.

Sealey list it as £400 and something RRP - and its roller bearing trays etc, so thats good.

    So - what you think?

Yeah - ticks all the boxes for me. My last one wasnt ball bearing draws and I have had to repair all 6 of the top draws - due to weight and usage.

I wonder what the casters will be like - but worst case I can get some tougher ones if needed,

Why do you want one does it need to move?

Or is it more of storage drawers etc?

Costco do a beauty it's £300 but plenty of storage space drawers and top box.

I need to be able to wheel it from the garage to the drive....

I also need all of that space for storage.. My current one - which is only two draws in total smaller is full to overflowing - all of tools I need constantly.

In all fairness that sealey box is ok but not great for being wheeled about, if you want one that can easily be moved then I'd reccomend just buying a better roll cab, leave the top box for later, I've had a couple of different boxes. My first was a top box which was fine for working in one place, then I upgraded to a roll cab which was great as it was easy to move around and it had a top to use as a bench and had the option to add a top box if/when required. Now I have a large roll cab and rob box with side cabinets aswell and it is just too heavy to move.

I've got the halfords pro one which is almost identical except it has 3 rows of 3 draws as apposed to this one of 2 rows of 3 draws... Think i'm gonna need a middle box for mine, Halfords one has had light use and does have roller bearings and is still perfect over 4 years ago

I personally have a 40 inch Snapon box for work, can steel be wheeled across the workshop for a big job over the other side, but am getting a service cart this week to reduce this need. I still have my original halfords industrial box at home and it has done me proud, been well and truly abused and the roll can was bolted into a van for 6 months and filled to the brim and coped fine my mates mac tools box bolted in the same van on the other had needed constant repairing!!

I would say have a smaller roll cab and top box with all you essentials in to wheel out ( bolt the cab and chest together stoops the top falling off, not that I've ever seen that happen :P much ) and keep the rest in you current box and buy a cheap service cart to put the extras on

Look at the sellers feedback, 6 negative this month alone, it might look good value, but they're only showing a stock photo. Think it would be a risk buying off ebay, wait until easter i'm sure halfords will have some sort of sale.
