My 150 cdti feels great at 91000 miles, £170 to tax. As usual, make sure water pump is changed and timing belt round 70000.

The tax will also be affected if it's an auto.

Best thing to do is plug the details into an online calculator - such as

    http://carfueldata.dft.gov.uk/new-vehicle-tax.aspx

    or

    http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/advice/road-tax-guide/

Two completely different cars as well. If you are looking to buy either of the cars, the CDTI will be best for long runs, the 1.8 VVT better for for short start stop town driving. If the diesel is not given chance to warm up you will most likely attract large repair bills.

I have two (08 and 58) and both are great economical cars. Had no bother and as above, if manual - £170 excise fees per year.

    (nice name by the way!)

    08 is at 98k miles, 58 just tipping 52k.

Had the 08 from new, only cost me a bearing (£100 fitted) since owning (other than service).
    rear pads at 48k
    front pads at 85k

CDTI 150 is far more punchy than the 1.8 and even the 2.2i direct. I had a 2.2i direct prior, had to rev it's t!ts off to move. Loads more fun in the CDTI by far in my opinion. - I now await the onslaught from the VVT army!!
