Default Working for a friend would you be annoyed?

So one of my mates gave me a job when i was unemployed, i can do the job very competently and had many happy customers. He said while its a new venture for him expanding his buisness into these other areas he will pay me £7.50 an hour! I thought fair enough i accept this and any work is better than none! So now its doing ok we needed another guy, so he has employed another lad he breifly met a while back but ive found out hes paying him £10 an hour! This lad is less skilled than me on the work we do, but he can do other things like fit parking sensors etc... But surely that balances it out. Why should i teach and work with someone thats on more than me! Yes he is usefull in other ways but this just seems a matter of principle. Am i been mellow dramatic or would you be peeved and say something. Im even thinking is he really a mate or just making a mug outta me to make his millions!?

have a chat with him and say about your pay and you would like to be paid the same as the other guy... he could say yes or no but at least you will know.

the other guy may of said that's how much he wants an hour and you should of asked for more.

    just my opinion tho mate...

Make you you are 100% the other lad is getting £10 an hour before you do anything, if he's not your going to look like a bit of an idiot. If he is being paid that much more I would ask to be paid the same based one what you have said above..

I would have a chat with him, if business is going well ask him if he would consider giving you a wage rise. I would not point out you know what the other guy is on, just looks like sour grapes. Many places where people earn more or less than the people they work with. TBH fitting non oem parking sensors is a easy as it gets. Im not being rude but what make you think you are better than him, maybe your boss thinks your not, sorry only being devil advocate.

i used to work for a police authorised insurance emergency repair/make secure company as a fitter/locksmith, my immediate gaffer was a good mate and he got me the job, i had a fully qualified joiner (6 yrs younger than me) working as my laddo and i had to teach him how to work with among others thing's upvc and aluminium, i was on £12.50 an hr he was on £13.50, i was training him up to repair/replace these matterials as i said but he was more qualified than me in the joinery dept so that in the eyes of my employer was all that mattered...

sometimes it's better to take the rough and think at least i have a job...

I know im better than him as he just labours on me and ive been trained in london. He has no experience and only brought in to fully learn off me! But he knows more in other fields. I wouldnt mind if he was on 10 per hour while auto electric work, but he shud be on 7.50 when hes learning my field. Infact i am been made a mug of arnt i as why shud i get same wage as someone that learns off me!

It never works out having friends working together as problems like this arise and it makes everything awkward

unfortunately as i know only too well it is very easy to get taken the **** out of in the motor industry, i wouldnt not approach him with the attitude of that you want what the other guy is on but have a sit down with him and have a chat regarding the fact the company is now up and running and that you really could do with a bit more in the dosh department, unfortunately im not great at choosing the right way to go about it, have the same problem myself but im in a very similar situation where i am doing a job well under my qualification level (qualified tech as far as college is concerned with about 1 year of in role experience being the driver/valeter/***** at a new branch) and have been promised a permanent move into the workshop once work justifies and within 6 months (started 4 months ago) but they were talking about bringing another tech in from outside, so i had to get the ******** up and go have an informal chat with my general manager and remind him of our deal and that i have helped them out of the **** in the workshop the last couple of weeks due to an increased workload being too much for the 1 tech that is in the workshop. i got told its about a month away but im in the workshop till the end of the month while they work out what to do

I wouldnt mind and i hear what your saying about how approch it, but i feel i need to approch it this way as i feel ive been taken for a mug and hes more a friend than boss (was friends years before this) so why wud he give someone else better pay! Seems morally wrong.
