Default Tips on self wheel refurbing please.

Bought a spare Preface SRi 17" Wheel to replace the space saver.

Its not in a bad way but I would like to attempt a homemade refurb.

I wonder if I could get some tips.

Best way to sand, wet and dry working from 1200 grit up to 2500 grit maybe? By hand of course.

What to fill the small but deep enough scratches with whilst prepping.

Im quite happy with primering and painting but what would be the standard silver colour for these wheels.

    Many thanks

    Chris

If fully spraying I'd start with 80/180 and take it right down for an even level finish, only wet sand after you've painted. Go up to 500 after fillered and primed, then spray

I will do. Thanks Lee also for the tips.

Just need to know what kind of filler is best to use. Idea's anyone please?

Will take a while as its one of them things to do when I get a bit of free time,

I can see the rubbing down taking the longest but I love all that. I know im odd

Any body fillers fine if you don't have major chunks missing from the lips etc...

Thanks Lee. I was expecting something more specialised. Will get some normal car filler then.

The kurbing is not too deep.

Any ideas of the standard paint colour for these wheels.

Don't think the code ever got released, but you could take the wheel along to a paint shop and try get it colour matched... Think most refurb places use star silver 2 but I don't think its a good match...
