    Default What a difference!!

Hi all, just thought I'd share my recent experience with my veccy. Alternator packed in last monday on way back from hospital. Stripped it out monday evening to get part number to order a new one, and thought that while the car was off the road, I'd have a fiddle and clean out my boost sensor. Took it out and was choked solid, and I mean SOLID. Left it soak for 2 hours in celulose thinners, then gave it a good scrub with small paintbrush, then blasted it through with some wd-40. Put it all back together, put new alternator on then topped up tank on way to hospital the next day.

All my running round this week now, where I usually get 250 miles to half a tank from full, now had 320!!!

So for such an easy and quick job to make such a difference, I thought I'd share it with ya

WD40 is not that good for cleaning the boost sensor because it's oily. Better option for cleaning are the brake cleaners spray type cans. These are not oily and the soot from the inlet manifold won't stick to the sensor so soon as with the WD40.
