Default My oil deffo needed changing..

After 2 weeks of garages failing, people giving up etc I set about doing the oil change myself.

armed with the following I set to work.

    Irwin bolt removers
    Mole grips
    Pliers
    Hammer
    Big hammer
    Cold chisel
    9" grinder

Irwin bolt removers are the biggest waste of £15 I've ever spent. Taking them back!

after literally 2 hours of nothing happening, I decided to chisel two flats to get grips onto. I chiseled along the bottom and oil started pouring out. I instantly thought I'd gone through the sump.

another hour of it not budging, I turned to the grinder. Gave up with that due to lack of access & then went mad with the chisel & it came flying out! SUCESS!

Changed the filter & it looked bad!

I'm so glad it's done. I'm just praying it cures my engine tick. We'll soon see!

Only thing is I've chipped the sump with the chisel so it's seeping round the plug seal. Il try some liquid metal if not il have to change the sump.

Yuck that doesn't look like its been changed in a while.

I had the same prob with my old cdti couldn't get it off so hit a smaller socket on it and that got it off.

    Nasty!

Changed my oill / filter last night. Amazing difference in how smooth the car feels and it was only done 8 months or so ago.

Surprised you didn't get on with the Irwin sockets, my sump nut was totally rounded off and the Irwin socket removed it with relative ease.

    Good job Mr.

With your old oil being that black, i'd change it again next week (won't take you as long this time round)
As much as you let it drain out, there'll still be old oil sat in galleries and pipes which will contaminate your new oil and shorten it's life.

Have to agree--i would be putting a cheap oil in--proper spec mind--for a week and changing both the oil and filter again---Dave
