A3? Just a rebadged Golf/Bora/Octavia/Leon. You pay over the odds for the badge. I know it's a dirty word but our Focus Ghia 1.8TDCI hasn't put a foot wrong in 6 years of owning. Fully loaded, 6 cd, electric windows all round, elec mirrors, front heated screen etc. 115bhp in the book figures but I think it has more, as a lot of people believe they usually do. Very good handling, very comfy. Only downside I have come across is like a lot of fords the seats are set really high. This can be fixed by taking them out and removing washers but I've never been arsed frankly. Never had to do anything on it beyond routine servicing and consumables like pads/discs. Plus there's a million of them out there so it's a buyer's market.

Well IMO it's all down to who's gonna be doing the maintenance matey , if she likes getting "down and dirty" with her motors, then let her get a 307 fella but I reckon you'll be the one doing all the housework cooking shopping etc because she'll be forever under the car fixing it

One french car and that was more "nightmares" than all the other motors I've ever had all put together !

I've had 2 307s, one never put a foot wrong, the other was a bit of a disaster. It was an xsi, hence my user name!!! My swimbo had a 1.9tdi Leon and loved it so much we've just replaced our volvo with a 2.0tdi Sport one!
