    Default Creaky Dash

over the last week or 2 the dash in my vectra seems to have developed a creaking, it wasnt in it when i got it just over a month ago (or at least i never noticed it) and first it seemed to start creaking a bit on a back road where the road was rough, but the last day or 2 now it seems to be doing it even on a main road, smooth surface. Its not doing any harm as such but its just one of those things that really annoys you after a while Ive pushed on the dash on every point i can while driving the car to see if the creaking stops but it doesnt, it sounds as if its coming from near the windcsreen area, mabey where the vents are in the centre by the glass but when i press on them it doesnt seem to stop either!!
Has anyone else had this problem or know the location of the screws or fixings of the dashboard so i could check and try thighten them up mabey?

Are you sure its not the centre dash vent? Because mine does it from the vent it winds me up! Am going to try double sticky tape see if that helps.

well it does sound as if its coming from that area, but i tried pressing on it while driving, although i cant press on it all at once so i might try with a friend pressing on one side of it! I also tried driving with the centre piece removed but still made noise!! I didnt mind it at first but now its starting to really bug me, i have to turn the radio up now to drown it out

Try wd40/silicone oil in all joints/cracks wherever there are screws. it worked for me in the past, not on a vectra but on other cars. Worth trying because the creaking noise comes from pieces of dashboard rubbing together and the oil will get rid of the noise. Hopefully.

Ill try some wd40 around the center vents first as it definitly sounds to be coming from around there, if that doesnt work then ill go at it with the tape i tried pushing on the glovebox aswell and even with it opened, it didnt make any difference!

Maybe silicone or Teflon grease would be less messy (and stinky) than WD40...

What did you need to remove to do all that (not 100% what you did either from reading that )?
