Going buying a Vectra Sri

I'm going buying a 2008 Vectra Sri cdti 1.9 150ps. Most of the ones around for sale have between 90k and 115k miles done.

Do you think this is too high a mileage? Should I wait for a lower mileage one?

What should I look out for when I go viewing them with regards to problem areas and wear and tare?

Also is there anyway of making sure its a 150ps version and not a 120ps one besides the oil filler cap and the badge?

The oil cap is on the right hand side of the engine on the 150 and the oil cap is on the bottom left on the 120

I bought a 1.9 CDTi 120 about three weeks ago. The guy wouldn't budge on the price (3k) and said it was a genuine thing hence no negotiation on price. We went had a drive and bought it. Spent £300 in these first three weeks however! There was a knocking when we test drove but we've had one before and it's just anti-roll bar bushes. The water pump had a leak and light on dash was on every other day wanting water topping up....not an expensive fix (£45 for pump) We decided to do the timing belt at the same time as car has done 72k. Wasn't so good on starting so put on tech2 and found there was an air leak on egr. Instead of replacing we've had the car re-mapped yesterday and the egr has been mapped out. Car goes like hell now!! Wasn't banking on spending anything fixing stuff for a while but hopefully that will be it for now! Good luck finding one.

120bhp are only 8v.....150bhp are 16v. If you take cover off the top of the engine you should be able to tell??

Best to get one with that mileage that has the usual stuff that goes replaced. I.E egr, dmf and a few others. The Diesel guys on here will keep you right. If any problems come up, this is the place to get the answers.

Mark-R is that for definate so because I read you can get 120ps with the oil filler on the right too or is that just on Astras?

The rear badges will give it away any way, cdti all in silver = The 120BHP.... Cdti with the 'T & I' in red will be the 150BHP failing all the above and that just either do an insurance quote on the said car that will tell you or download a free my car check app on your mobile and whack the reg in and 99% tell you the bhp figures.

Don't worry bout mileage mate Hesse are very popular taxis and so must be fairly reliable, just check that DMf ,clutch,egr valve etc are good and try and get an extended warranty if your buying from a dealer,I've had two 150 cdtis and had no probs whatsoever,it's a cracking engine when it's running spot on lol
