Vectra Vxr

Hi, I'm currently considering buying a vxr, I've found one that want but it's not HPI clear. However the seller who seems genuine has said that the finance via bmw finance will be paid off once the car has been sold, he would show me the confirmation email of the payment or I could pay the finance company the remaining finance on the car, for the price it's up for and the mileage I don't think I'll find another one for a while. What should I do is it something to worry about?

If it was me I would pay the finance myself and pay him the balance and then you know it's paid off and he can't do anything about it...

If you give him all the money then he could not pay the finance and they take the car off you when you have done nothing wrong!

I would buy it if the car was genuine and what you wanted just make sure you pay the finance yourself for peace of mind!

true but the problem is as he doesnt own the car outright it isnt actually his to sell.......think i might give it a miss

I would ask him could you go with him to pay it off so you see him pay it.

Hes offered to get the finance company to phone me so i can ask them a few questions but i just dont know what to do.

tbh if it was me i would probably walk away.

the finance company he gets to call you could be a mate of his prepped with the right answers.

if it doesnt feel right just walk away.

i guess we are talking about a fair bit of cash here too, its not some £200 banger so i would walk away if it doesnt feel right.
the consequences far outweigh the risk imo

Yeah fair bit of cash its up for 7 and he owes over 5, think ive made my mind up to give a miss.

maybe if you could get something in writing from the finance company stating once its paid off the car is yours and the seller agrees to take the difference then maybe i would go for it

seems like a lot of work to buy a car tho?

Be careful, he could have a log book loan or two on it, they don't show up on HPI but it is attached to the car and you could end up paying that off too if you're really unlucky.
