    Default Rubber turbo's

Flamin cost cutting monkeys at VX....

As folks may or may not know, we also 'run' a 150 CDTi in the family and lets just say it's less than reliable... now on 24,000 miles and it's not exactly an example of their finest reliability..

so far it's been in for the autobox flexiplate bolts, the DPF (twice) and now it's on it's 5th turbo visit.. first two times when i knew it needed a turbo, as did the dealer, VX just told the dealer to tighten the hose clips to stop the leaking oil escaping onto the undertray....

3rd time we got the turbo changed... but it seems it's made of rubber..

4th visit, exhaust gases escaping into the engine compartment and getting sucked into the cabin via the heater.. their 'fix' was to put in 3 gaskets to take up the mis-match in the flanges....

And now today.... guess what??.. it's another turbo for us.. ...we know there's supposedly a 'bad batch'.. but duff turbo's since 2005??... this car has never been boxed or mapped and gives us 48MPG

I think i'll stick with my V6..thats been boringly reliable.. CDTI's... you can keep them...

Jees, he's not having a lot of luck with that is he m8 !
I think he is just mostly unlucky though, to be fair the majority on here haven't had any problems. Although having said that he is not alone either, a couple of others have had problems with the DPF and turbo.
I guess this kind of stuff is prone to happening when brand new technology is released to the public, history has proved time and again, no amount of testing means everything is going to be 100%

funnily.. i did suggest it got dumped at the first chance, but he likes the car's economy.. i told him that as he seems to spend a long time in courtesy cars it's no surprise it's good on fuel..

Has ANYONE had a 100% reliable CDTi??..most folks i know have had at least one issue with them.

We had a 128k 1.9 CDTi 150bhp Vectra 04 plate that went 3 weeks ago.

Only fault with rad mounts. One of the best pool cars we owned

My old Vectra CDTi had issues with the DPF, engine was superb. My Astra has been highly tuned since day 1 and running a dream touch wood.

Our lasses 1.3 CDTi Corsa now has 101k on it on a 54 plate and all original

I think it is luck of the draw. We only run CDTi engines at work and out of 20 cars the main issue is the 1.3 CDTi Turbos, 1.3 CDTi Astra starter motors and 1.7 CDTi fuel pump on one.

    Not bad really?
