brake lights stuck on after m/c change

As above my problem is my brake lights are stuck on after i changed my master cylinder.

now is it possible the bracket the brake pedal attaches to has rotated and wound in, there for not allowing the pedal to travel back enough to kill the lights??
just baffled really and any help would be great

Have you disturbed the brake light switch or over pressed it as this can cause brake lights to stay illuminated?

think i might have fully pressed it when i pulled the brake pedal back to release it from the little bracket, but iv tested the switch and it works ok, just seems the bracket has moved back towards the m/c and the pedal isnt coming forward enough to trip the switch..
