Default Hi New member and Vectra C owner, need some advice.

    Hi

I have recently purchased an 06 vectra SRi CDTI 150 with the Z19DTH engine. I am very happy with the purchase and its a massive upgrade in pretty much every way coming from a 1998 ford escort!

However, i do seem to have a couple of small issues with it. Firstly, it appears my thermostat is shot and stuck open as the temp gauge rarely goes above 80'c and when it does its whilst climbing a steep gradient. Cruising on the motorways etc brings the temp down to zero where it pretty much stays throughout most my journeys. To get any hot air out of my blowers, i need the heater on pretty much full hot!
I have had a look at the thermostat housing on the engine, It does not look like too much of a problem to change, perhaps a little bit tight? I have quite a lot of experience with engines & mechanics etc so im not new to any of this, however, if there is a 'How too' guide or similar for me to go over first, i would be very grateful if someone could point me toward it?

My second issue i feel is going to be slightly more of a problem... I have the CD70 colour NAVI stereo, its all up and running with no issues howeverwhen i purchased this car, i was not given the car's manual containing the code key for the stereo. How can i obtain this code? and if i disconnect the battery or pop the fuse to the stereo by accident, would this cause the stereo to require the code to be input?

    Many Thanks for your help

    Ryan

If you have the car pass you can get the code from the dealer.

You do not need a code for the stereo, its not an old Ford escort lol
The HU is matched to the GID and to the car using tech 2 and this is not affected when you disconnect the battery.

Thanks for the replies here everyone. I called vauxhall and they quoted me £44 for the thermostat so i shall be getting one asap.

With regard to the stereo again, you say its interfaced with the cars Cam-bus so therefore i shall not require any keycode; therefore i can safely remove the stereo completely and re-install it without any issues? I ask as i would like to fit an AUX-In to the stereo, i have seen a few pictures on google of the rear of the cd70 with pins for an AUX input, so i hope i will find the same on the back of mine? Can anyone confirm this? Perhaps there is a how too, so i know which pin is R+/L+/- ?

Also lastly, If i was to remove the battery from the remote-locking keyfob for any length of time, would the keyfob require re-programming?

    Many thanks
