Any one got a rough cost to replace the alternator on my '54 plate CDTi 150
It's in the garage now...how many hours should it take and how much for the part ???
Cheers

Ive just fitted a replacement to my vectra 150 cdti. Took about 2 hours to do. I gotta refurbished alternator for £100 from alternatorman on ebay. New ones cost £200+
Not a £50 job then :-)
It died at the garage when they were looking at it
The mechanic is a mate so hopefully, there'll be a bit of 'mates rates' discount
Hope it's no more than £ 350-400
Cheers
Its a pretty simple job so hopefully your mate will go easy on you lol.
If he does,I'll big up the garage :-)
i paid £224 inc fitting for a brand new one , not reconditioned , £172.14 for part £52.50 fitting took 1.5 hours, mechanic made 2 visits to my house so labour charge should be less if its in a garage
Sounds promising...I was expecting £ 600 plus the way they were talking
Just got a call from the Garage.....it's nearly ready:-)
Just need the bill now :-(
Did a bit of hagling at motor factors, got a bosch alternator on exchange for £140, 1.5 hours installation.
Got the bill today :-(
MOT,service,alternator,Bosch battery,auxilliary belt,labour and sodding VAT came to £ 475
No complaints there :-)
