    Default 2.0t LPG conversion

Has anyone on here done an lpg or had one done on their 2.0t, Im spending about £60 a week on petrol and can not afford to do this any longer, just wondered if anyone had encountered any problems along the way before I spend about £700, I will be keeping the car for a couple of years once it is done, I dont want a diesel due to the cost of all the spare parts and repairs. so I wont be taking that option

some saab lads have been more actively looking into this than us, basically the same engine.. Yours would be called a B207L in their world.. The B207R is just the bigger turbo and aero cams..

Have you worked out how much mileage you'll have to do before you start saving any money mate...? From what I remember, LPG generally got less mpg than petrol, and even though it was quite cheaper you'd have to do a serious amount of mileage before you've made back the 700 squid...

wouldn't touch a diesel, DMF DPF, injectors & inlets! way to expensive. cheaper to buy a vXR 2.8.

Like I said i spend about £60 a week so if I save £20! in 8 months it will have paid for itself. happy days! just worried about problems, but as nige mentioned I will have a look at the saab site

Go for the conversion fella. LPG at half the price of petrol at current prices doesn't need much of a comparison before you realise you will be saving money soon !
Say it costs you £1000 , then with petrol at £1.40 a litre, and in my case 25 mpg, here are the figures.
£0.70 per litre for LPG x 4.454 to arrive at a per gallon price of £3.12. So, at 25 mpg in my case for a 3.2 Gsi = £0.1248 per mile
£1.40 per litre for Petrol (£6.24 per gallon) equals £0.25 per mile.
£1000 for the conversion ? You only need to spend £500 on petrol, before it starts to balance out.
    £500 = 80 gallons = 2003 miles in my case.
That seems low, maybe I missed something, BUT the conversion figures for running LPG, don't take long to stack up.

it seems that you must use the Prins system on this engine or you will kill the head.. and its not as cheap as people think...

If the LPG costs you 12.5p per mile, effectively saving you 12.5p per mile at the same time over petrol, then you have to do 8000 miles before you've recouped the cost of the conversion. Only then do you start saving money, assuming you get the same economy of 25mpg and nothing goes wrong with it in the meantime that needs money to repair it...
