Buying a 2nd Hand Zafira Diesel : What should I be looking for please

Hi All

As the third boy is due in May this year I need to get a Zaffy but Im going to keep the Vec. Just can't part with it yet. Budget is 2k.

Going to look at this one on Friday which looks to be a good example.

I wonder what areas should I pay attention too most and what questions should be asked.

Also with these engines is it a timing belt or chain. I have no idea when it comes to these things.

I was already going to say look for a low miler well maintained 2.dti for that money & you won't be far wrong... they're a cam chain & pretty robust imo, i had an irmy kitted 2000 (w) plate dti many years ago did 60k in it & the only thing that ever failed was the airflow meter... check it from cold & make sure it starts ok, usual Vx suspension knocks etc & make sure you rev it hard & it's not smoking.

really couldn't fault mine & imo the zaffy is indeed the best mpv on the market

Will be my first diesel I ever bought so not so clued up on them.

Had a gsi and the only thing that went was a maf sensor great cars IMO would have another one

A mate of mine has had 3, not because theyve broke just the opposite really and he keeps upgrading spec. Lol. Hea had no probs with his current 1 either and its his work horse so does about 500 miles a week. Great mpv imo

Thanks very much for the info mate. Its good to hear positives about these motors. Was expecting worse to be honest.

I need a diesel though, sorry about that. And my budget is 2k (or less) only as money is very tight at the moment.
